He also went on to call him a ‘jerk, idiot and clown’, who ‘does not have the right intentions’.

Donald Trump has slammed Robert De Niro after the Hollywood actor declared the President was ‘destroying’ America.

Earlier this week De Niro headlined a ‘State of the Swamp’ campaign that aired while Trump spent nearly two hours claiming the ‘country is winning again’ and trumpeting his administration’s achievements during his State of the Union address.

As part of the State of the Swamp event, which was held at Washington D.C.’s National Press Club, De Niro, fellow actor Mark Ruffalo, many Democrat politicians and even some members of Trump’s previous administration urged viewers to protest against Trump ahead of November’s midterm elections.

During his speech, De Niro, 82, declared: ‘If you’ve ever loved your country, this is a time to show it.

But not missing his chance to take aim at the actor and hit back at the criticism, Trump launched into on a rant on Truth Social soon after.

‘Robert De Niro another sick and demented person with, I believe, an extremely low IQ, who has absolutely no idea what he is doing or saying – some of which is seriously criminal!’ he began.

‘When I watched him break down in tears last night, much like a child would do, I realised that he may be even sicker than Crazy Rosie O’Donnell, who is right now in Ireland trying to figure out how to come back into our beautiful United States.

‘The only difference between De Niro and Rosie is that she is probably somewhat smarter than him, which isn’t saying much.’

He then added: ‘The good news is that America is now Bigger, Better, Richer and Stronger than ever before, and it’s driving them absolutely crazy!’ She’s said that she would only consider returning to America when ‘it is safe for all citizens to have equal rights there’.

O’Donnell, who has been embroiled in a decades-long feud with Trump, moved to Ireland at the beginning of last year for her ‘own sanity’. She’s previously explained that she would consider returning to America only when ‘it is safe for all citizens to have equal rights there’.

‘Everybody has to get out there every way possible. This is our country. You know, I want my country back. I don’t want everybody going around with their MAGA flags and American flags like they’re the only ones [who are patriotic]. We are Americans, too. And there are more of us because we believe in what’s right and wrong; empathy, and kindness. Bringing the country together, not dispersing it…I understand tribalism – you stick with your own and all that. But this is way, way, way more serious,’ he explained.

‘There’s no magic. People are not going to go away, even if Trump dies for some reason by having an illness or something. Parts of that movement are still there, and that’s the scary part. It has to be neutralised by the people.’

‘Now, he just beclowns himself by spewing hate speech and inciting violence against others. Instead of embarrassing himself every time he speaks, he should seek immediate treatment for a debilitating case of Trump Derangement Syndrome that has rotted his peanut sized brain,’ he added.

Over the years De Niro has regularly been outspoken about Trump, previously branding the former reality star and businessman and his allies ‘not real Republicans’.
