Cadbury is launching brand new colour-changing Dairy Milk chocolate bars this summer

As if the news that White Chocolate Maltesers are returning wasn’t enough for chocolate lovers to sink their teeth into, Cadbury has just announced a brand new treat.

The chocolate giant is going to be launching an Iced Latte Dairy Milk chocolate bar, which combines smooth coffee cream, biscuit pieces and the classic taste of Cadbury chocolate.

But what’s particularly interesting about this new product isn’t the flavours – it’s the packaging.

That’s because the chocolate bar comes in a temperature-activated packet, which visually transforms when it is chilled.

Why is this controversial? Because the confectionary brand previously confirmed that their chocolate products shouldn’t be stored there.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), a Cadbury spokesperson said that storing chocolate in the fridge can ‘compromise the quality’.

They explained: ‘Chocolate should always be stored in a slightly cool, dry, dark place such as cupboard or pantry at temperatures less than 21°C to ensure the quality isn’t compromised.’

This is the first time Cadbury has ever launched a product like this and it comes after research found that 67% of Brits are curious to try chilled chocolate.

So to entice people to give it a go, the new cold-activated packs will look like ordinary purple Dairy Milk bars – until they are popped in the fridge. Using thermochromic technology, the temperature change will reveal one of four vibrant summer-themed designs as the wrapper changes colour to reveal a deep blue image.

In addition to the iced coffee-inspired new chocolate bar, Cadbury will be adding the colour-changing wrappers to regular Dairy Milk chocolate, so there will be four-limited edition bars available as well. These are all part of a range they are calling ‘Cadbury Dairy Milk Chilled’.

The new range will be available nationwide in major retailers from June 2025. All of the bars have an RRP of £2, but stores are able to set their own prices, so it may vary.
